SPINODYSSEY 2008 ANOTHER SUCCESS!
Over 430 Spinners rode for breast cancer research, raising $455,489 at the 9th annual
SPINODYSSEY hosted by the Fitness & Tennis Club in Norwalk, CT. Tennis players ages 9-18
participating in the first annual TENNISODYSSEY swung for the cure for six hours on three tennis
courts and contributed $20,000 to the total raised, while the indoor cyclists pedaled on the
other two courts under the instruction of local and master Spin Instructors as well as the band DNR!
Top Fundraiser was Steve Teixeira with $23,650 followed by Iain Bruce $17,375 -
both perennial top fundraisers over the past 7 years! Elysse Hamlin, 11 years old,
was the top TENNISODYSSEY fundraiser with $5,037.
Team Equinox of Darien defended its crown of "Team Generosity", raising the most money
with $97,103, followed by the Westport Weston Family Y with $79,809 and the
Southport Racquet Club's Cure Riders with $39,764.
Of the total raised, An ADDITIONAL $19,000 from the silent auction, SPINODYSSEY store,
CD Swap, water bottle, t-shirt, & jersey sales, and a wine tasting event was delivered to
Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital to support breast cancer clinical trials.
Also as part of the total raised,close to $20,000 was from the TennisOdyssey players ages 9-18,
who hit over 30,000 balls during the 6 hours of SPINODYSSEY!
