The 2011 Norwalk Y Team
- Appoint a “Team Captain” or “Team Co-Captains” – the most important team captain qualification is ENTHUSIASM. Recruit potential candidates based on their ability to motivate others, their experience with the event, and/or whose lives have been touched by breast cancer (if they feel comfortable talking about it publicly).
- Create special t-shirts or cycling jerseys for your team – ask your premiums distributor to create a shirt/jersey with your logo on the front and the SPINODYSSEY (year) logo on the back (logo available by contacting ).
- Host team training sessions at your facility or an outside health club that offers Spinning® - a Spinning training program is on www.spinodyssey.org. It can be tailored for both expert and novice Spinning participants to prepare for the big event. At least once a month, allow “non-team” members to train with the core group – perhaps you’ll motivate new team members to hop on board.
- Offer “team incentives” along the way – recognize your “Most Enthusiastic Spinner,” “Best Fundraiser (so far),” etc . . . sometimes, the corniest ideas done “tongue- in-cheek” turn out to be the most fun!
- Hosting a team “pep rally and pizza party”- for all your employees/staff, complete with “cheerleaders,” pompoms, marching band music, and all the stuff you remember from
high school!
